Waterfront concert will celebrate churches’ 70th anniversaries Sunday.
LUDINGTON — Redeemer Lutheran Church of Scottville and Our Savior Lutheran Church of Hart are both observing their 70th anniversaries this year. In celebration, the two churches will host a concert by the band Koiné Saturday, Aug. 26, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Waterfront Park in Ludington. The performance is free and open to all.
Koiné is a Lutheran church band from Milwaukee. The word “koiné” is Greek for “common”. The band plays common hymns that many know and enjoy, but with a cool, modern twist, said Pastor Rich Miller, minister for both churches. “The members use modern instruments and new arrangements to bring out the spiritually rich texts of hymns in fresh, vibrant ways. The music genré is hard to describe because each song is styled after the particular emotions of the lyrics. Some of the songs have a more elegant feel. Some of the songs (though familiar hymns) have a definite rock sound”
For more information on the band, go to www.koinemusic.com or look for its Facebook page.
Waterfront Park is at 391 S. Williams St.
In case there is a storm, updates will be posted on the concert’s Facebook event page.
“We are excited to have this musical group come to our area and to host this event for the community in honor of our anniversary,” Miller said. “This is a blessed opportunity for outreach, with the precious and clear message of Christ our Savior proclaimed in such a beautiful way through this music.”
Redeemer Lutheran Church is located at 409 N. Main St. in Scottville while Our Saviour Lutheran Church is located at 2087 N. Water Rd. in Hart.
