SCOTTVILLE — Vandals are costing the City of Scottville lots of money and the city is going to take steps to counter the issue. Most of the vandalism takes place at the restrooms and fish cleaning station on the west side of Riverside Park, City Manager Amy Williams told the City Commission Monday during its regular meeting.

“These facilities are basically stainless steal and made to be durable, but vandals continue to come in and cause destruction,” Williams told the commission. “We have had to have a plumber down there several times to make repairs. At one point the cleaning station had to be shut down for a period of time because of the destruction vandals caused.”

Williams said she is going to recommend that the city’s parks and recreation committee consider placing security cameras in areas around the places that have had vandalism issues.
