LUDINGTON — The Mason County Sheriff’s Office is observing Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month by displaying bumper stickers on the back of patrol vehicles with the message “Look twice. Save a life. Motorcycles are everywhere.”

Sheriff Kim Cole said there has been a noticeable increase in motorcycle fatalities across Michigan in 2016.

“It’s our goal that all motorists are safe on Mason County’s roads, but it’s important that motorists be extra vigilant of motorcycles. We also ask that motorcyclists be equally cautious of other vehicles and always drive defensively.”

The sheriff added that motorcyclists should consider utilizing safety precautions such as wearing helmets and the appropriate clothing.
