LUDINGTON — A 35-year-old Custer Township woman was arrested April 18 by the Mason County Sheriff’s for allegedly embezzling money from her employer, Fun-N-Sun RV, 66 N. Dennis Road, Amber Township.

Allison Shirley Swan, 1005 N. Custer Road, was employed as a bookkeeper for Fun-N-Sun since May 2016, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole. In October 2016, the business owner noticed that Swan had written an $810 commission check to herself, according to Cole. The company had contacted the sheriff’s office detective bureau which recommended an independent audit be performed on the company financial records. Cole said the audit resulted in a discrepancy of over $16,000 in the company’s records.

On April 13, the sheriff’s office requested an arrest warrant from the Mason County Prosecutor’s Office charging Swan with one count of embezzlement by an agent/trustee and one count of using a computer to commit a crime, both felonies.

The embezzlement is punishable by imprisonment for up to five years and/or a fine of not more than $10,000 or three times the value of the money or property embezzled, whichever is greater.

The computer crime is punishable by imprisonment for up to 10 years and/or a fine of not more than $5,000.

A preliminary hearing in Mason County’s 79th District Court is scheduled for May 10 at 11:15 a.m. Bail was set at $7,500 personal recognizance.
