LUDINGTON — Ludington Police Chief Mark Barnett is warning Mason County residents of a telephone scam. He said two Mason County residents reported Monday morning that they had received calls over the weekend from individuals claiming that the person owes them money from claimed previous loans.

The caller identification showed that one of the calls originated from the Mason County Sheriff’s Office and the other from the Ludington Police Department.

“These calls did not originate from either of these two law enforcement agencies,” Barnett said. “These calls are scam calls and people receiving them should hang up immediately and not give out any personal information.”
