LUDINGTON — Children will have a chance to explore two new exhibits when Sandcastles Children’s Museum opens for the 2017 season Friday morning.

The nursery exhibit, sponsored by Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital, will give children a chance to explore the process of what its like to be in a hospital nursery.

“There are lots of role playing opportunities with the exhibit,” said Kristin Korendyke, executive director of Sandcastles. “They can pretend to play doctor or nurse, or be a mom or dad or a big brother or sister.”

The nursery exhibit replaces the sand stream table that has been donated to Ludington High School’s earth science program.

On the top floor, children will have a chance to play with Grandpa’s Little Farm, a dollhouse-type barn that will feature toy tractors and animals. The barn is located in the vestibule outside of the farm exhibit. The exhibit is sponsored by Great Lakes Energy People Fund.

Sandcastles Children’s Museum is open Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. It will open seven days a week beginning June 1 through the summer.
