Fountain couple gives birth to first 2017 baby in Mason County.

LUDINGTON — Jayson Wayne Ogan became the Ludington area’s 2017 New Year Baby on January 4, arriving at 12:23 p.m.
First-time parents Loretta and Jason Ogan welcomed Jayson in The Family Birthing Center at Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital. The couple chose a slightly different spelling of the dad’s name for their son. Jayson weighed seven pounds, one ounce, and measured 20 inches.
The family lives in Fountain.
Jayson was delivered by Dr. Timothy Murphy, of Ludington, assisted by nurses Heidi Moloney and Trisha Plamondon. The attending physician while mom and baby are in the hospital is pediatrician Dr. Kari Leikert.
Loretta, Jason and Jayson received a collection of gifts to celebrate Jayson as Ludington’s first baby of the year. Gifts included a safe sleep sack provided to each new mom and baby by the local hospital foundation, and a knit cap from hospital volunteers. In addition they received a package of diapers, a case of formula and a large gift basket from the hospital. The basket contained blankets, towels, toys, clothing and other items to help them start life as a new family.
