LUDINGTON — A 30-year-old Grant Township man pleaded guilty in 51st Circuit Tuesday, Jan. 3, to possession of heroin under 25 grams; operating a vehicle in a parking lot while under the influence of drugs; second-offense operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI); and probation violation.

Bryan Patrick Lund, 68 W. Hoague Rd., and Nicole Lynn Kaiser, 28, of 50 Wayne Rd., Pentwater, were arrested last November by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office in the Save-A-Lot parking lot, at 5530 W. US 10.

Lund testified that he possessed a liquid mixture in a syringe containing heroin at the time of his arrest.

His plea agreement entails serving a one-year discretionary jail term with 125 days up front, followed by Special Alternative Incarceration (SAI) or “boot camp.” Upon release from boot camp, Lund would be placed on a tether, said Mason County Prosecutor Paul Spaniola. Lund will also serve a probation term, which will include a substance abuse evaluation. He will be ordered to follow the recommendations of the evaluation. His driver’s license will be suspended for one year.

Her plea agreement calls for a one-year discretionary jail term with six months up front; probation; and a substance abuse evaluation. Her driver’s license will be suspended for one year with a restricted license after 60 days, Spaniola said.

One count of third-offense OWI, a misdemeanor of second-offense driving while license suspended (DWLS); and a second-offense habitual offender designation were dismissed in Lund’s case.

Their sentencings are set for Feb. 14 at 1:15 p.m. at 2 p.m.
