VICTORY TOWNSHIP — As part of the 50th anniversary celebration, West Shore Community College announces auditions for “Noises Off,” the next theater production in the 2016-2017 Performing Arts Series.

Auditions will be Jan. 8 and 9, 7 p.m., in the Center Stage Theater, located in the college’s Arts & Sciences Center.

“I’m looking for a group of fearless actors who have a great sense of comedic timing. Those auditioning do not need to prepare anything in advance but should come ready to have fun and read from the script.  We would like to have a big turnout at auditions; new faces are always welcome,” said Director Michelle Kiessel.

Kiessel returns to direct this show after her very successful direction of “Godspell” this past fall.  “Michelle is one of the most dynamic directors in the area, and has been a pleasure to collaborate with, the past few years,” said Michael “Mik” Mikula, director of theater.

Mikula added this is an opportunity for local actors to work on one of the funniest shows out there. “I look forward to working with her on this production.  I have had experience with this show in the past and Michelle will have her work cut out for her, but I know she will be up to the task.”

Called the funniest farce ever written, “Noises Off” presents a manic menagerie as a cast of itinerant actors rehearsing a flop called “Nothing’s On.” Doors slamming, on and offstage intrigue, and an errant herring all figure in the plot of this hilarious and classically comic play.

“Noises Off” has not only had a recent revival on Broadway, but was also made into a hilarious movie featuring, Carol Burnett, John Ritter, and Michael Caine.

“The most dexterously realized comedy ever about putting on a comedy.  A spectacularly funny, peerless backstage farce.  This dizzy, well-known romp is a festival of delirium,” said a New York Times article.

The production will take place in the Center Stage Theater on Feb. 24 and 25 and March 4 and 5, at 7:30 p.m., and Feb. 26, and March 4, at 2 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased at westshore.edu, by going to the Performing Arts Series icon, and then hitting the “Buy Tickets Now” tab or call the box office, Monday thru Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., at 231-843-5507, or in person at the WSCC Schoenherr Campus Center Bookstore.
