LUDINGTON — In the spirit of raising money for charity, several personnel at Mason County Sheriff’s Office are violating policy by not shaving this month, and plan to continue the violation next month. The violation has become a tradition at the sheriff’s office. Deputies have petitioned the sheriff asking consideration to waive the facial hair policy for the month November. The trade off for “violating” the policy is that the offending deputies have to pay a fine of $25 a month for October and November. The fines will be applied to the Michigan Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Lansing.

Those wishing to donate, may write a check to the Friends of the Mason County Sheriff’s Office, c/o Community Foundation for Mason County, PO Box 10, Ludington, MI 49431. Note in the memo line: No-shave.
