79th District Court sentencings, dismissals.

LUDINGTON — The following were sentenced recently in 79th District Court:
– James Phillip Biggin III, 30, of 602 E. Melendy St., Ludington, was found guilty Oct. 4 of second-degree retail fraud (shoplifting) and sentenced to serve 85 days up front of a one-year discretionary jail term with credit for 85 days served; $916.08 in fines, costs and restitution; must have substance abuse evaluation and follow recommendations; and no alcohol/drugs.
– Michael Darious Otis, 26, of 229 W. Walnut St., Apt. 1, Kalamazoo, was found guilty Oct. 10 of illegal fishing gear and sentenced to 90 days discretionary jail and $220 in fines and costs.
– Jordan Lee Chemacki, 35, of 1133 Tulip St., Grand Ledge, Michigan, was found guilty Oct. 7 of illegal fishing gear and sentenced to $220 in fines and costs.
– Henry Aaron McKinney, 53, of 3357 Fuller Ave., SE, Grand Rapids, was found guilty Oct. 6 of possessing a fish without a license and sentenced to $250 in fines and costs.
– Ryan Michael Schultz, 17, of 2618 Cumberland St., Kalamazoo, was found guilty Oct. 6 of illegal fishing gear and sentenced to $220 in fines and costs.
– Joshua Dale Blanchard, 23, of 10454 N. 8th St., Plainwell, was found guilty Oct. 5 of possessing a non-game bird and was sentenced to $325 in fines and costs.
Dismissals
– Richard Kenneth Ferris, 52, of 505 E. Fifth St., Ludington, one count of driving while license suspended (DWLS) was dismissed Oct. 7. “The interests of justice do not require further prosecution of this case,” his court file states.
– Thayne David Patterson, 30, of 1039 N. William St., Ludington, one count of DWLS was dismissed Oct. 7. “Defendant has pleaded guilty in a circuit court matter,” states his court file. “The ends of justice do not require further prosecution of this matter.”
