LUDINGTON — Radiant Church, 409 S. Washington Ave. in Ludington, is trying a little different slant on church. For three weekends, the church will present “At the Movies.” Services will feature free popcorn, pop, and snacks, along with segments of modern movies and how those movies contain scriptural messages.
Pastor Jerry Theis says the services are directed towards those who may not necessarily be regular attendees of church. However, anyone is welcome.
“This isn’t normally the way we do church,” Theis says. “But, for three weekends a year, we bring Hollywood’s biggest movies that most people have probably seen at least once, and we take out real life inspiring lessons from those movies.”
Secured child care will also be provided along with special kids At the Movies segments designed for preschool through elementary age children.
“We value this being a wholesome viewing experience so all the movies have been cut down to fit the message and to remove any questionable content,” Theis says.
The services are Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, and 16. Saturday services are at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday services are at 10 a.m. Read more at www.radiantcoast.org.
