LUDINGTON — Adam Clayton Shook, the “person of interest” in the early Tuesday morning stabbing of a 26-year-old man has been released following an interview with the Ludington Police Department, according to Ludington Police Chief Mark Barnett.

Shook remains a “person of interest” at this point, Barnett said, and the investigation is ongoing. Barnett could not comment as to whether there is another suspect in the case due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.

Shook came into the Ludington Police Department Tuesday morning after he found out that law enforcement was searching for him.

“At this point no information will be released regarding the contents of the interview with investigators as the investigation is ongoing,” Barnett said. He would not comment as to how long the interview lasted.

Officers from Ludington Police Department and Mason County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to 716

E. Danaher Street at 3:59 a.m. on an assault complaint. Upon arrival, officers encountered the victim lying on the kitchen floor. The victim suffered two cut wounds in the upper rear torso, Barnett said.

Life EMS and Ludington Fire Department medical first responders responded to the scene and the victim was transported to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital for treatment. The victim was expected to be released soon, Barnett said.

The initial investigation indicated that the victim had been involved in an escalated verbal argument with another subject, who was not at the location when the officers arrived on scene.

“The victim and the person of interest are known to each other, and the assault appears to have resulted from a verbal disagreement,” Barnett said.
