The Big Dessert: Guinness World Record attempt is today.

LUDINGTON — Today is the day to show the love. It’s a Love Ludington weekend and the highlight is the Guinness Record for the World’s Longest Frozen Dessert. Barry Neal, owner of House of Flavors Restaurant, talks in this MCP Video Short about what’s going on. MCP will be covering the event, which will include a live Facebook feed here.

Here is a schedule of the event:

8 to 11 a.m.: Table distribution to sidewalks from Park to Harrison streets along north side of Ludington Avenue.

10 to 11:30 a.m.: Set up of gutter machines and supplies at north corner of Ludington Avenue and Park Street.

Noon to 3 p.m.: Tables get set up in north lane of Ludington Avenue from Park to Harrison streets.

3 p.m.: Block captains and block managers register and meet in Rotary Park. Measurement team and world record officials do first measurement and documentation. Distribution of dry product and non-refrigerated items begin.

4 p.m.: Scooper and server registration and meeting at Rotary Park.

4:30 p.m.: Block captains and managers meet with teams in designated areas in Rotary Park.

5 p.m.: Block captains, managers, scooper and server teams parade to designated blocks.

5:15 p.m.: Gutter is lined with aluminum foil.

5:40 p.m.: Ice cream is brought out.

5:50 p.m.: Scoopers get in place: Hats on, hands sanitized, gloves on, scoops sanitized.

6 p.m.: Fire truck siren is sounded and scooping begins.

6:05 p.m.: Chocolate syrup volunteers run route to top and cover scooped ice cream followed by whipped topping volunteers. Cherries are then placed on desert.

6:10 p.m.: Media team documents on south side.

6:15 p.m.: Bowls of sundaes are distributed.

6:30 p.m: Clean up begins.
