Harbor dredging begins Friday.

June 7, 2016

LUDINGTON — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has entered into a contract with MCM Marine to dredge a portion of Ludington harbor just to the west of the north and south breakwaters. The contractor is expected to dredge about 31 feet below low water datum, which is about 34 feet in depth.

Dredging will be 24 hours a day, seven days a week for about 20 days, weather permitting. The dredged sand will be deposited in about 15 feet of water about 5,500 feet south of the south breakwater near Buttersville Peninsula.
