ra-clownband2LUDINGTON — The Scottville Clown Band is rewarding 21 middle and high school students with over $5,000 worth of scholarships to attend performing arts programs this summer. The band will honor those students by holding its annual scholarship concert Wednesday, June 8 at Ludington Waterfront Park at 7 p.m. The Ludington Area Jaycees will also hold a special presentation for its Freedom Festival Parade Grand Marshal Ed Santarelli.

During the concert, the Clown Band will take up a collection for its George F. Wilson Memorial Endowment Fund. Monies raised through the endowment will be applied towards future scholarships. Those unable to attend, may send their donations to George F. Wilson Memorial Endowment, PO Box 21, Scottville, MI 49454. Donations may also be made directly to the Community Foundation for Mason County.

Each year the Clown Band rewards scholarships to children to attend summer music programs. The scholarship program is named in memory of Raymond Schulte, who re-formed the Scottville Clown Band in 1947 after the band had dissolved because of World War II.
