CUSTER TOWNSHIP — Mason County Eastern third grade students released over 80 salmon parr into the Pere Marquette River this morning, as part of the students’ life sciences studies, taught by Scott Andersen.  Andersen said the project began last November when the students visited the weir on the Little Manistee River where they acquired the salmon fry. The students have been watching the fish grow since. Salmon take about three years to reach maturity.
