CUSTER TOWNSHIP — Pastor Mik Sutton will be installed as senior pastor of Sugar Ridge Church of the Brethren, 2012 E. Wilson Road on Sunday, May 22 at 4 p.m.

The member of Sugar Ridge have invited their neighbors and friends to join them for the occasion.

Pastor Mik and Polly Sutton live in Branch Township and have five

children, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Pastor Sutton graduated from Mason County Central High School in 1969, attended West Shore Community College from 1969-1971 and graduated from Western Michigan University in 1974 with a bachelor of science degree in special education and in 1977 with a master’s of arts degree in special education. He also received a master’s degree in administrative leadership from Grand Valley University in 2003.

Sutton graduated from the Reformed Church in America commissioned pastor program in 2008 and was called to serve as senior pastor at Grant Reformed Church in August of 2009, serving in that ministry until July 26, 2013. He then returned to Mason County to pick back up with his previously started home based weekly prayer ministry.

“Being a pastor, to me, is a calling to strive for excellence in all things ministry,” Sutton said. “To seek to emulate the words of Colossians 3:17, ‘And in all that you do, in word or deed, do in the name of Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.’”
