MOUNT PLEASANT — Mason County Central’s forensics team recently participated in state finals at Central Michigan University. The Spartans brought a strong team of 19 students to this year’s final tournament. Coach Tom Richert said he was confident in this year’s team, as the it earned 81 individual trophies, and seven team trophies, as-well-as regional championship.
“We had some real champs this year, and I felt that we could make a great showing.” Richert said. The team placed second in the state class C only losing to private school, Ann Arbor Greenhills. MCC ranked fifth overall in class B, C/D, also rated the second highest public school next to Birch Run.
The team had 10 events in semifinals and five events in finals. This is the result of the tournament:

Richert said that it was a great effort by all team members, and he is extremely proud of this team.
