LUDINGTON — The following were sentenced recently in 51st Circuit Court:

  • Desmarais

    Desmarais

    Andrew Michael Desmarais, 28, of 14135 Pleasanton Hwy., Bear Lake, was found guilty Feb. 24 of malicious destruction of police/fire property; possession of marijuana; and third-offense habitual offender. He was sentenced April 19 to serve seven months up front of two concurrent one-year discretionary jail terms with credit for 171 days served; two years probation; $726 in fines and costs; and driver’s license suspended one year/restricted after 60 days. Second-offense habitual offender designation on the marijuana possession charge was dismissed.

    Tyler Joel Griffin, 24, of 204 First St., Ludington, was found guilty March 1 of possession of a narcotic or cocaine less than 25 grams and sentenced April 19 to serve five months up front of a one-year discretionary jail term with credit for 18 days served and $125 in fines and costs. In a separate file, Griffin was found guilty March 1 of possession of a narcotic or cocaine less than 25 grams and sentenced April 19 to serve five months up front of a one-year discretionary jail term with credit for 45 days served; two years probation; driver’s license suspended 180 days/restricted after 30 days; and $658 in fines and costs. Work release allowed if it meets Mason County Sheriff’s Office guidelines. Sentences are concurrent.

    Robert Vincent Bahr, 47, of 2907 W. Conrad Rd., Amber Township, was found guilty March 8 of third-offense operating under the influence of liquor (OUIL) and sentenced April 19 to 93 days in jail with credit for 114 days served and $125 in fines and costs. One count of driving while license suspended (DWLS) and fourth-offense habitual offender designation were dismissed. In a separate file, he was found guilty of third-offense OUIL and sentenced to serve nine months up front of a one-year discretionary jail term with credit for 118 days served; two years probation; 60 days community service; three years vehicle immobilization; and $1,108 in fines and costs. Both files run concurrently. Convictions are reportable to the Secretary of State (SOS).

    Manuel Joe Vega, 30, of 1090 N. Lancer Lane, Lot 37, Pere Marquette Township, was found guilty March 15 of assaulting/resisting/obstructing police and sentenced April 19 to serve 90 days up front of a one-year discretionary jail term with credit for 49 days served; two years probation; and $658 in fines and costs. Work release allowed if it meets MCSO guidelines. Third-offense habitual offender designation dismissed.

    Roberts

    Phillip Edward Roberts, Jr., 30, of 6537 East Glen Lane, Sheridan Township, was found guilty March 8 of receiving and concealing stolen guns and sentenced April 19 to serve seven months on a tether of a one-year discretionary jail term with credit for 103 days served; $658 in fines and costs; and two years probation. Two counts of felony firearms; one count of receiving and concealing stolen guns; one count of firearms possession; and fourth-offense habitual offender designation were dismissed.

    Gerald Anthony Penn, 44, of 777 Cole Creek Lane, White Cloud, pleaded “no contest” to AIDS or AIDS-related disease – sexual penetration with uninformed partner and was sentenced April 19 to serve six months up front of a one-year discretionary jail term with credit for 58 days served; five years probation; and $902.40 in fines, costs and restitution. HIV testing and sex offender registration have been completed. One count of aggravated domestic violence was dismissed.
