LUDINGTON — Local semi-truck driver Mike Tyndall has recently been chosen as Driver of the Month by the Michigan Trucking Association Council of Safety Management. Tyndall has been driving truck for 21 years, with 10 of those years at Quick-Way, Inc. of Ludington.

Tyndall, who lives in Branch, was nominated by Lindsay Murphy, human resources director at Quick-Way.

“Mike has an outstanding record of safety having driven over two million miles accident free throughout his career,” Murphy said. “Mike’s commitment to safety reflects the culture of safety first at Quick-Way, Inc. Mike is a dedicated driver whose professionalism and choice of safety over speed has made him a safety leader in the tank truck carrier field.”

Tyndall said he loves driving truck.

“It’s just the feeling of being free,” he said. “I tried getting off the road and trying something else and I just find that I really enjoy driving truck.”

Quick-Way owner Bill Dunn said he believes his staff of over 30 employees are all exceptional, but Tyndall exemplifies what it is to be a quality driver. “He’s not just a great truck driver but he’s a heck of a good guy,” Dunn said. “Mike has an exceptional safety record and represents our company well with his outstanding customer service. He just excels at it all.”

Quick-Way is based in the Ludington Industrial Park and hauls bulk liquids, mostly magnesium hydroxide and liquid latex.

Mike will be participating in the 2016 Michigan Trucking Association Safety Award Banquet on March 15, where he is a contender for the association’s Driver of the Year.
