LANSING – State Rep. Ray Franz, R-Onekama, co-sponsored House Resolution 204 last week to declare Feb. 2 Blue Star Mothers Day in the state of Michigan. Franz represents Mason, Manistee, Benzie and Leelanau counties in the State House of Representatives.

Blue Star Mothers is a national organization founded in Flint in 1942 that consists of mothers whose sons and daughters have served honorably in the United States Armed Forces. Blue Star Mothers help to ease the transition for veterans returning to civilian life, as well as recognize and honor those soldiers who were killed or wounded while serving our country.

“I am so incredibly moved by the work that these fine women do to ensure that our veterans are welcomed home and adequately taken care of,” Rep. Franz said. “All of the hard work that the Blue Star Mothers organization does greatly impacts people’s lives here in America and provides a tremendous amount of good for the veterans community and society as a whole.

“We could all take a page out the Blue Star Mothers book by promoting patriotism, remembrance of our fallen heroes, and supporting those serving in the Armed Forces and their families.”

The Blue Star Mothers organization focuses their mission every single day to never, ever, forsake our troops, our veterans or the families of our Fallen Heroes. For more information please visited the organization’s website at bluestarmothers.org.
