LUDINGTON — As a varsity wrestling coach Dan Fulton has noticed a change in physical education. Over the past several years he has noticed that kids don’t seem to have the proper basic warm-up skills, such as knowing how to perform a pushup. He decided to do something about it. Dan and his wife, Letha, own Ludington Athletic Club, 1166 N. Rath Ave. Last year, Dan started Gym Bears, a program for kids ages 4-12.
Gym Bears meet weekly on Tuesday nights from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. For 30 minutes the kids learn agility skills and then they learn tumbling and gymnastics for another 30 minutes.
“Our thought was to get the kids moving at a young age, learning their calisthenics and the proper pushups and different exercises to get their cardio up.”
