WSCC honors society donates food.

VICTORY TOWNSHIP — West Shore Community College’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the honors society for two-year colleges, sorted and delivered 27 boxes of non-perishable food items to three local high schools that expressed a need including Mason County Eastern, Mason County Central, and Ludington.

Phi Theta Kappa mobilized students, faculty, staff, and community members to donate food for their holiday food drive which wrapped up on Friday, December 11.

The goal for the food drive was to make sure that students didn’t go hungry over the holiday break.

“We feel that we all deserve an equal chance to feel joy, togetherness, and a full stomach, especially during this time of year,” said chapter president Brianna Walter.  “It was incredible to see how many students, faculty, and other organizations on campus contributed to this effort. We collected so many items and I’m so proud to be a part of our community, and a student at a campus that’s so supportive. It’s such a win-win situation for all of us.”

Phi Theta Kappa recognizes achievement, offers enrichment activities, provides the opportunity for community service, and gives students a chance to interact within a community of scholars.
