including receiving and concealing firearms; felony firearms; and conspiracy to commit receiving and concealing of firearms, the sheriff said.

The two were arrested following a seven-month investigation that involved obtaining information from the suspects’ cell phones, according to Cole.

The investigation began following a traffic stop March 16, 2015 in Pere Marquette Township in which a 20-year-old man was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of a stolen handgun. “Over the course of the next several months, search warrants were executed on cell phones belonging to those involved. With the assistance of the Digital Forensics Lab in Ludington, valuable information was obtained from the cell phones which assisted deputies in their investigation and eventually led to the charges being filed,” the sheriff said.
