Wedding of the dead

LUDINGTON — Jennifer Hornacek and Arturo Mendez of Ludington wanted to do something different for their wedding ceremony. They accomplished it Wednesday afternoon with a wedding of the dead.

The ceremony took place at The Haunted Eclectic Marketplace, 307 S. James St. with the perhaps irreverent Dan “Danny V” Vargus officiating. The “late” bride was literally late as the ceremony began 30 minutes after its scheduled time. But all was well. No one died while waiting for it to begin.

The Haunted Eclectic Marketplace will open at 6 p.m. each evening the rest of the week through October 31.
