Road to college’s recreation center to close for repairs; detour from Amber.

August 20, 2015

VICTORY TOWNSHIP — The access road to West Shore Community College’s Recreation Center and Ice Arena will be closed August 24 – 28, while a dam standpipe, underneath the road to the athletic facilities, is replaced.

However, the Rec Center and Ice Arena will remain open during the closure and can be accessed via an entrance located on North Amber Road, a quarter mile east of the Sugar Grove Road entrance. The detour route will be clearly marked with signage.

According to Scott Ward, vice president of administrative services, the standpipe replacement project was delayed due to unforeseen engineering with the campus electrical infrastructure.

“While we have repaired the problem, the dam project is now about two weeks behind schedule. We had hoped to have completed the work while the Rec Center was closed for its annual maintenance. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience to all of our loyal users and we appreciate your patience while we complete this necessary project,” said Ward.
