Bus safety program scheduled for Monday.

busesLUDINGTON — Area bus drivers are expected to participate in safety training on Monday, August 24 at Ludington Area Schools high school/middle school campus. Drivers from LAS, West Shore Educational Service District, Mason County Central, Mason County Eastern, Baldwin, Pentwater, Walkerville, Fremont, Belding, Greenville, Manistee, Manistee Intermediate School District, Ludington Mass Transit and Manistee Dial-a-Ride will be in attendance.

The training will also include participation by personnel from Michigan State Police, Ludington Police Department, Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Life EMS and Mason County Emergency Management.

“This training event shows the commitment of our area school districts in providing a safe environment for our children in all aspects of the school day,” said Liz Reimink, Mason County emergency management coordinator. “While the majority of the professional development day will be in the classroom, the afternoon will include a hands-on training segment: the public may notice bus drivers participating in these scenarios,”

The training is being organized by the West Shore ESD.
