Ludington_youth_sailing_school_1LUDINGTON — Ludington Youth Sailing School will hold a sailing demonstration and ice cream social on Sunday August 16 from noon to 4 p.m. on the peninsula adjacent to Copeyan Park.

The event will also include boats on display from local marine emergency services including Mason County Sheriff’s Office and Ludington police and fire. Pirates will also be on site.

The purpose of the event is to thank the public for its support of the school, which is in its second year, said Gary Ferguson of LYSS. “Many of the students will be there and will demonstrate what they have learned.”

Ferguson said the second year was a success and the program keeps growing.

LYSS is a non-profit organization that exists to promote sailing in the Ludington area.

The event will include an ice cream social, $3 per person or $15 per family of five or more. Ice cream is being donated by House of Flavors. All proceeds benefit the school.
