42nd Annual Western Michigan Old Engine and Tractor Show – Scottville

Thursday, July 30, 2015 – Sunday, August 2, 2015 – 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Visit Scottville Riverside Park this weekend and step back in time! Hosted by the Western Michigan Old Engine Club, the event spotlights the engine and tractors of the yesteryears. See antique machinery in action with numerous tractor pulls every day, as well as threshing demonstrations, corn shelling and grinding, a working saw mill with buzz saw and many other exhibits. Saturday is Kid’s Day from 10a.m. to 4p.m. and will include a garden tractor pull, a pedal tractor pull, valve cover racers, a scavenger hunt and even an opportunity for kids to build their own birdhouses. Admission is $5 for adults, ages 12 and under are free.

The first of three free Friday night movies will debut at Scottville Clown Band Shell featuring “Big Hero 6.” It is the first Disney animated film to feature Marvel Comics characters and is a story of a young robotics prodigy named Hiro Hamada who forms a superhero team to combat a masked villain. Bring blankets or chairs and bug spray. The Scottville Optimist Club will be selling refreshments. Live music will begin at 8 p.m. to entertain the early crowd.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream – Ludington

Thursday, July 30, 2015 – Saturday, August 1, 2015 – 8 p.m.

Come and enjoy the production of William Shakespeare’s comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream. This outdoor event will take place at Oaktree Academy at 8p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $10 per person and all proceeds benefit the academy. Bring your own chair, bring your hearty chuckle and join a cast of some of the finest actors in Mason County for an evening of laughter and merriment.

Summer Sidewalk Sales – Ludington

Downtown Ludington stores are opening their doors and bringing the sales to the streets! Retailers will be offering big sales and new merchandise for all to see and purchase. Stroll down the streets of Ludington and shop ’til you drop.

It’s the last, but certainly not least Friday Night Live of the season. This week, enjoy the musical stylings of Awesome Distraction, Emma and Mallie and the Guitars of Dutch Henry. This week will also host the Blessing of the Badges, a parade of emergency vehicles following the blessing and a Cops & Robbers 5k. As per usual, there will be pony rides, inflatables, a 4-H zoo, numerous vendor booths and rides on the Baby Badger! Don’t miss the final FNL summer celebration!

West Shore Bank Rhythm and Dunes Concert – Ludington

Hop on down to Waterfront Park on Saturday to enjoy Britain’s Finest, The Complete Beatles Experience! Sponsored by West Shore Bank, this week’s concert will feature one of the finest Beatles tribute bands. Based out of Los Angeles, the band is renowned for putting on a fantastic show, recreating the eras in Beatles history, costumes included! Bring your own chair and dancing skills to enjoy a night of great oldies.
