Drunk driving charge pending after crash

CUSTER TWP. — A charge of operating while intoxicated is pending against a 27-year-old Free Soil area woman who was injured following a single-vehicle crash on Custer Road between Johnson and Hansen roads Monday evening, according to the Hart post of the Michigan State Police. The woman was driving north on Custer Road when the vehicle apparently left the roadway, landing on its side in a ditch on the west side of the road. The woman, who was the only occupant of a Pontiac Grand Prix, was pinned in the vehicle. Fire personnel used extrication tools to remove her from the vehicle and had to use ladders to remove her and themselves from the ditch.

She was transported by ambulance to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital.

Responding to the scene were MSP, Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Life EMS and Custer Fire Department.
