Habitat for Humanity to host second golf tournament.

June 18, 2015

PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP – Habitat for Humanity of Mason County will hold its second annual Raise the Roof Golf Scramble on Saturday, July 11 at Lakeside Links Golf Club. The tournament is one of the organization’s main fund raisers and organizers boast that it’s a little different than other golf tournaments.

The tournament will of course include golf. But, it will also feature a water balloon launcher, local beer, sandwiches along the course, a Plinko game and a chance to win $1,000.

“We are pretty excited about being able to hold the tournament again this year,” Habitat board member and event organizer Meaghan Greene said. “We had a wide range of ages last year and a wide range of experience, but everyone had a good time.”

Last year the tournament raised $10,000 for the organization. Organizers are hoping to match that again this year. Sponsorships are $1,000, $500, $250 and $100. Anyone interested in sponsoring should contact Jamie Healy, executive director of Habitat at 231-843-7888 or hfhmason@habitforhumanity.biz.

The tournament begins at 10 a.m. on July 11. There is room for 36 teams and the cost is $85 per player. Those interested in signing up should contact Lakeside Links at 231-843-3660.
