As weather heats up, police calls increase

The following is local law enforcement activity from Tuesday, June 16, 2015:

– 3:02 a.m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), car/deer crash, no injuries, US-10 and Gordon, Amber Twp.

– 6:16 a.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle crash, no injuries, State and Elm, City of Scottville.

– 9:15 a.m., (MCSO), workplace accident, a 60-year-old Twin Lake man received minor injuries after a motorhome he was working on collapsed on him, 100 block of N. Dennis, Amber Twp. Related story here

– 9:39 a.m., (Ludington Police Department), malicious destruction of property, 300 S. Harrison St.

– 11:32 a.m., (MCSO), assist Lake County/water emergency, Pere Marquette River east of the Mason County line. Branch Fire and Carr Fire and Rescue also responded to a report of a canoe which had overturned and sank. A 44-year-old Leo, Ind. man and his 15-year-old son were uninjured. Related story here

– 1:46 p.m., (MCSO), a 65-year-old Norton Shores man was arrested for operating while intoxicated as a result of a two-vehicle rear-end crash, no injuries, northbound US-31 off-ramp at US-10, Amber Twp.

– 2:40 p.m., (LPD), unlawful driving away of automobile, 200 block E. Melendy St.

– 4:24 p.m., (LPD), harassment, 1000 block N. James St.

– 5:25 p.m., (MCSO), unlawful entry, 300 block of E. James, City of Scottville, case closed.

– 6 p.m., (MCSO), gas drive-off, $8 in fuel, 5900 block of W. US-10 — Ludington EZ Mart, PM Twp.

– 6 p.m., (MCSO), gas drive-off, $30 in fuel, 5900 block of W. US-10 — Ludington EZ Mart, PM Twp.

– 7:32 p.m., (MCSO), an 18-year-old Hart man was arrested for assault after he reportedly pointed a “handgun” at a passing vehicle. The victim called 911 with a vehicle description and registration. The suspect vehicle was located at Dunham’s in Amber Twp. and was eventually pulled over. The “handgun” was determined to be an airsoft pistol. Related story here
