VICTORY TWP. — A 20-year-old Victory Township man, who is facing life in prison for the alleged rape of a 13-year-old girl last summer, appeared in 51st Circuit Court today.

Sebastian Allen-Leroy Chandler, 20, of 153 N. Ivan Rd., speaking through his attorney, David Glancy, requested an adjournment so he could receive an evaluation.

Chandler was arrested March 18 by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office on two felony counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct (CSC) or rape – under 13/defendant over 17; one felony count of accosting children for immoral purposes; and one felony count of possessing child sexually abusive material.

The incident was reported Aug. 4, 2014, said Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole at the time of the arrest. Chandler lived at the victim’s Victory Township residence and is a non-family member, the sheriff said.

The hearing was adjourned until June 16.
