State Rep. Ray Franz, R-Onekama, was recently appointed by House Speaker Kevin Cotter, R-Mt. Pleasant, to serve as a member on the state’s Emergency Medical Services Coordination Committee (EMSCC).

Franz joins the EMSCC to provide the Michigan Department of Community Health with recommendations to strengthen emergency medical services throughout Michigan.

Speaker Cotter issued the following statement regarding Rep. Franz’s appointment: “I selected Rep. Franz because his experience makes him the right man for the job.  Rep. Franz is a U.S. Army veteran who has spent more than thirty years using the skills he learned to serve his community as a Medical First Responder and firefighter for the Bear Lake and Onekama Fire Departments.  He has the expertise we need in this important position.”

“I am honored that Speaker Cotter has asked me to serve on the EMSCC,” Rep. Franz said. “However, this isn’t about me, this is about developing a best practices guide for our first responders and establishing a comprehensive state-wide emergency medical services program to better serve the people of Michigan.”

Rep. Franz will be attending the next EMSCC meeting slated for Friday, May 29.
