Kinship caregivers to meet.

March 21, 2015

LUDINGTON — If you are a grandparent raising a grandchild or other relative raising another family member’s child, then you are invited to attend the next meeting of Mason County’s Kinship Support Group on March 24, 2015.  The meeting will be held at Grace Episcopal Church on North James Street in Ludington from 6 to 7:30 p.m.  Refreshments and deesert will be provided.

The group has not met for the past six months while undergoing a process of restructuring and reaching out for new membership.  The only requirement to attend is that you are presently raising a related child either through the foster care system, guardianship, an informal arrangement or adoption.  There are no financial requirements but only the desire for support and information on this unique family situation.

The facilitator for the meeting will be  Jan Wagner and the meetings are for the caregiver to meet with other families who share the commitment of  raising another family members child.  Input into topics and educational trainings will be taken into consideration and participation and experiences are valuable to the group as a whole.

Subsequent meetings will be held on the second Tuesday of each month  at Mason County Reformed Church in Scottville from 1 to 2:30 p.m.  and again on the fourth Tuesday at Grace Episcopal Church in Ludington at 6 to 7:30 p.m.  Child care will be provided if needed, but you must notify group facilitator ahead of time so arrangements can be made.

For additional information and child care reservations, please call Jan Wagner at (231) 757-9810 .  You may also visit and “like” the Facebook page Grandparent/kinship families in Mason County for current group postings and updates.
