79th District Court sentencings

LUDINGTON — The following were sentenced recently in 79th District Court:

– Justin Alan Kase, 22, of 209 S. Columbia St., Scottville, was found guilty Jan. 6 of larceny less than $200. He was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; $285 in fines and costs or 30 hours community service; 10 days discretionary jail for one year or until fines/costs paid.

– Anthony Stuart Blowers, 27, of 203 N. Reinberg Ave., Scottville, was found guilty Jan. 6 of third-degree retail fraud. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail; $568 in fines and costs; 93 days discretionary jail for two years; probation will end after one year if fines/costs paid within six months; no alcohol/drugs; must submit to preliminary breath tests (PBTs) and drug tests; and must seek employment. Restitution is reserved.

– Kayla Ann-Marie Jowers, 21, of 112 Fourth St., Ludington, was found guilty Jan. 6 of driving while license suspended (DWLS). She was sentenced to $568 in fines and costs or 57 hours of community service; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; and probation may end after paying fines/costs within eight months. Conviction reportable to the Secretary of State (SOS).

– Joshua Kurt VanDenHeuvel, 30, of 3434 N. Amber Rd., Scottville, was found guilty Jan. 6 of malicious destruction of a building. He was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; outpatient treatment; $711.50 in fines, costs and restitution; and 93 days discretionary jail for one year.

– Steven Phillip Hogan, 52, of 1429 Timber Trail, Greenwood, Ind., was found guilty Jan. 6 of operating while intoxicated. He was sentenced to three days in jail with credit for three days served; $1,430 in fines and costs; 93 days discretionary jail for two years; must obtain a substance abuse evaluation and follow recommendations; must attend AA twice a week for two years; no alcohol/drugs; and subject to random PBTs and drug tests. Conviction reportable to SOS. Dismissed were one count of operating with a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .17 or more/super drunk; one count of PBT refusal in a non-commercial vehicle; and one count of driving the wrong way on a one-way street.

– Troy Andrew Boerema, 43, of Alpine Motel #2, Branch, was found guilty Jan. 6 of attempted sex offender failure to register. He was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; 30 days discretionary jail for one year; and $300 in fines and costs.

– Elmer Dale Yeary, 37, of 2043 Mundt Rd., Brutus, Mich., was found guilty Jan. 6 of controlled substance, possession of marijuana. He was sentenced to 21 days in jail with credit for 21 days served; $720 in fines and costs; driver’s license suspended one year/restricted 305 days; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; and no alcohol/drugs. Conviction reportable to SOS.

– Glenn Clayton Hollars, 24, of 2905 Cook Inlet View Dr., Apt. A-2, Kenai, Alaska, was found guilty Jan. 6 of controlled substance, possession of marijuana and sentenced to $535 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS.

– David Eugene English, 37, of 920 Sigsbeee St., Apt. 2, Grand Rapids, was found guilty Dec. 30 of DWLS. He was sentenced to 32 days in jail with credit for 32 days served. Conviction reportable to SOS.

– Whitney Marie Browne, 22, of 214 N. White Pine Dr., Ludington, was found guilty Jan. 5 of allowing a person to drive in violation. She was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; $335 in fines and costs; and 90 days discretionary jail for one year.

Dismissal

– Robert Scott Kuschinsky, 42, of 703 E. Dowland, Ludington, one count of tampering with an electronic monitoring device was dismissed Jan. 2. “Ends of justice do not require further prosecution at this time as this matter has already been appropriately handled as a probation violation,” court records state.
