Results of contested county races.

LUDINGTON — The following are brief results of Tuesday’s election for the contested county-only races:

  • Ludington Area Schools Board of Education. Three new board members were elected to the Ludington Area Schools board of education Tuesday night, defeating the only incumbent on the ballot. Voters were asked to chose three of the four candidates running. They chose Bret Autrey (3,574), Michael Nagle (3,062) and Steven Carlson (2,657), defeating incumbent Raymond Janish (2,637).
  • City of Scottville First Ward Commissioner. Edward Hahn defeated incumbent Denise Dongvillo, 67-59.
  • Free Soil Village Council. David Morley defeated Bernita Eddy Hurd for the seat of village president, 31-18. Voters were asked to chose three of the four candidates for village council. Results were: Richard Roberts, 35; George Merz Sr., 34; Duane Haiss, 30. The fourth candidate was Michael Lusk, 21.
  • County Commission. Two races were contested. In District 4, Republican incumbent Curt VanderWall defeated Democrat Ronnie Smith by a 70% margin of 1,099 to 454. Republican incumbent Thomas Posma defeated Democrat challenger Aldon Maleckas 733-497, 59%.
  • Sheridan Township Road Improvement Millage. Voters approved the millage 201-138.
