Public hearing tonight on Scottville parking fee increase.

November 3, 2014

SCOTTVILLE — A public hearing on increasing parking fines in Scottville will be held this afternoon during the city commission’s regular meeting.

On Sept. 22, the city commission approved a first reading of the ordiance which increases the cost of parking tickets from $10 to $30. If a ticket is not paid within 10 days, the fee increases to $40. This is consistent with other nearby cities, including Ludington.

Citizens will have an opportunity to voice their opinion on the ordinance during tonight’s meeting, which begins at 5:30 p.m. at city hall, 105 N. Main St.

The city’s season street parking limitations also began on Nov. 1. No parking is allowed on any city street between 2 to 7 a.m. until spring. The police department will issue warnings for a few days, unless there is significant snow accumulation.
