Library offering art classes

LUDINGTON — Mason County District Library will be holding a eeries of art exploration classes in August. The classes are sponsored by West Shore Art League. The classes are for students who are entering fifth through 10th grades this fall.

 

  • Jewelry, taught by Alayne Speltz. Aug. 11, 12, 1 to 3 p.m. for grades 5-7. Ludington library. The class will teach students how to make wearable art using basic metal smithing tools and techniques. Students may bring an interesting small object to incorporate into a ring or pendant such as a favorite stone, cool pop bottle top, or any little found object.
  • Jewelry, taught by Alayne Speltz. Aug. 13, 14, 1 to 3 p.m. for grades 8-10. Ludington branch.
  • Clay, taught by Nathan Grubich. Aug. 13-14, 9 to 11 a.m. Red Door Gallery.
  • Drawing, taught by Lynda Blankinship. Aug. 18-19, 2 to 3 p.m. Grades 5-7. Ludington library. Use of graphite sticks, Conte Crayon and charcoal to create drawings.
  • Drawing, taught by Lynda Blankinship. Aug. 18-19, 3:30 to 5 p.m. Grades 8-10. Ludington library.
  • Painting, taught by Lynda Blankinship. Aug. 20-21, 2 to 3:30 p.m. Grades 5-7, Ludington library.
  • Painting, taught by Lynda Blankinship. Aug. 20-21, 3:30 to 5 p.m. p.m. Grades 8-10, Ludington library.

– Mixed media, taught by Amanda St. Hilaire. Aug. 20-21, 9 to 11 a.m. at Red Door Gallery.

Students may register for one class only. Registration forms are available at libraries in Scottville and Ludington.
