Woman threatens deputy at hotel, finds herself lodged at county jail

AMBER TWP. — A 25-year-old Bridgeport woman found new lodging while visiting Mason County over the weekend. Deputies from Mason County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the Baymont Inn, at the intersection of U.S. 10-31 and Brye Road for an assault in progress at 12:25 a.m. Saturday. Upon arriving and making contact with the parties involved, the woman allegedly attempted to punch a deputy and yelled that she was going to kill him. She was taken to the ground and then arrested and lodged at the Mason County Jail. She was charged with one count of simple assault, for allegedly biting a 45-year-old St. Clair woman, and also charged with resisting/opposing an officer.

May 16

– 2:54 p.m.: A 36-year-old Fountain man was arrested on an outstanding failure to appear traffic warrant out of Mason County. The arrest occurred on Cleveland Street in the Village of Fountain, Sherman Twp.

– 5:57 p.m.: Alarm activation, 11000 block of North Loprete Rd., Grant Twp.

– 6:27 p.m.: A 38-year-old Eastlake man was arrested for back child support of $24,495 after deputies were dispatched to a shots fired call in the Fountain area. Upon checking on an individual on Cleveland Street, Village of Fountain, Sherman Twp., deputies learned the man had an outstanding Friend of the Court warrant/contempt of court warrant from Mason County.

– 6:28 p.m.: Gas drive off of $50.01, Fountain Market, Village of Fountain, Sherman Twp. Subject returned and paid for gas. Case closed.

– 6:47 p.m.: A 31-year-old Grand Rapids man was arrested for driving while license suspended second offense following a traffic stop at U.S. 10 and Brye Rd., Amber Twp. He also had five outstanding warrants from Mecosta Coujnty, including felony larceny, probation violation, friend of the court and two traffic violations.

– 7:28 p.m.: A 44-year-old Scottville man was cited for open intoxicants in a vehicle following a traffic stop at Sugar Grove and Custer roads, Sherman Twp.

– 8:05 p.m.: Disturbance/unwanted person, 100 block of North Main St., Village of Custer. Case closed, subject left.

– 8:36 p.m.: A 53-year-old Ludington man was arrested for an outstanding warrant from Ludington Police Dept. for possession of marijuana, following a traffic stop at U.S. 10 and Tuttle Rd., Custer Twp.

May 17

– 3:16 p.m.: Recovered stolen mopen from Muskegon County. Case remains open.

– 6:06 p.m.: Assist to Michigan State Police at a traffic crash on Pere Marquette Highway near Hesslund Rd., Pere Marquette Twp. See related story here.

– 6:20 p.m.: A 54-year-old Scottville man was arrested following a traffic stop at Pere Marquette Hwy. and Kinney Rd., P.M. Twp. He was charged with DWLS second offense.

8 p.m.: Hit and run crash, no injuries, P.M. River access off Walhalla Rd., Branch Twp.

8:10 p.m.: A 19-year-old Fountain man was arrested after a .40 caliber handgun was found in his vehicle during a traffic stop at State and Elm streets in City of Scottville. He was charged with carrying a concealed weapon.

May 18

– 2:34 a.m.: A 24-year-old Hart woman was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated following a traffic stop at P.M. Hwy. and Conrad Rd., P.M. Twp.

– 6:36 a.m.: A 49-year-old Muskegon woman was arrested for DWLS second offense following a traffic stop at U.S. 10-31 and Stiles Rd., Amber Twp.

– 3:45 a.m.: Car/deer crash, no injuries, U.S. 31 and Hansen Rd., Amber Twp.

– 11:43 a.m.: Breaking and entering, 3800 block of West U.S. 10, Amber Twp. Cash stolen.

– 1:15 p.m.: Car/deer crash, no injuries, U.S. 31 and Johnson Rd., Amber Twp.

– 5:45 p.m.: Assault, 3900 block of West U.S. 10, Meijer gas station, Amber Twp. Warrant requested.

– 7:19 p.m.: Traffic hazard, 100 block of North Stiles Rd., Amber Twp. Kids playing in road.
