Local Volunteers Being Sought to Assist Visitors this Summer

LUDINGTON — Do you love Ludington? Do you love talking to people? The Ludington Area Convention and Visitors Bureau would love to have you volunteer your time as a Love Ludington Ambassador this summer.

The CVB is launching the Love Ludington Ambassador Program in an effort to assist local residents in becoming great hosts to area visitors and guests. This new program will run in addition to the CVB’s successful downtown visitor center volunteer program.

The Ludington Area CVB is looking for social, outgoing, active locals of all ages to volunteer a couple times throughout the summer to greet out of town guests and provide helpful area information like great places to eat, where to watch the SS Badger, etc.

“Our Love Ludington Local ambassador program brings a street team approach to greeting and assisting our guests to the area, meaning we want our ambassadors to be among the visitors,” said Brandy Henderson, executive director of the CVB. “We want our Love Ludington Ambassadors to be visible and available to assist our guests whether it’s out at the Ludington State Park, grabbing a coffee downtown, walking at Waterfront Park or taking in the sun at the beach.”

On a typical day, ambassadors will provide directions, assistance, and information to guests. This could include helping people find nearby parking, recommending a local restaurant or even simply holding a door open for someone.

Ambassadors will be deployed beginning June 13 on Fridays and Saturdays through August 16. Love Ludington Ambassadors will be equipped with T-shirts and satchels containing maps and other helpful resources. Ambassadors must be willing and able to be on their feet for three hour shifts.

“When guests have a positive experience they are more likely to return in the future and also share their experience with others,” Henderson added. “Everyone benefits – the guest, the industry, the local economy and most importantly, the front-line worker”.

Interested individuals should contact the Ludington Area Convention & Visitors Bureau at 231.845.5430 or via email visit@ludington.org.
