Tommy Foster, singer/songwriter to perform at arts center

January 10, 2014

fosterLUDINGTON – The Ludington Area Center for the Arts welcomes Michigan singer/songwriter Tommy Foster on Saturday, January 18 as part of the LACA Main Stage Series.  He appeared at LACA in July 2012 during the Sweet Summer Concert Series.

Foster is inspired by the likes of Frank Zappa and Dr. Demento and is able to turn a pop song on its side, flip it over, turn it inside out and leave you doubled over in laughter and cheering for more.  Imagine a Madonna pop song and a Johnny Cash classic deconstructed and reassembled into an unpredictable, unforgettable montage.  Or a 21st century Roger Miller composing countless original novelty songs. That is Tommy Foster. And then some.

Foster has been performing most of his life, including taking the stage with his siblings in a band called The Foster Kids. He was recently featured on the Frauenthal Center stage in Muskegon with Ruth and Max Bloomquist and the Oat Bran Boys.  Foster was also part of the tribute performance “Echoes of Pink Floyd” at the Crofoot Ballroom in Pontiac this past fall.

Tommy Foster will be performing Saturday, January 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the LACA Performance Hall.  Tickets are $12 in advance or $10 for LACA members, are on sale at the LACA office and can be purchased Thursday-Saturday, noon-5pm.  Student tickets are also available for $5.  Tickets can be purchased online at eventbrite.com.  For more information, call 231-845-2787 or visit www.ludingtonartscenter.com.
