Investigating the Townline Road crash

Two crashes occurred Thursday night within 30 minutes of each other. The first was a two vehicle crash at US 10 and Brye Road in Amber Township around 6 p.m. The other was a single vehicle rollover on Towline Road west of Stiles in Victory Township.

Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole, who was at both scenes, said the U.S. 10 crash occurred at 6:02 p.m. when a pickup truck, heading east on U.S. 10, driven by Jennifer Segelstrom, 21, of Scottville, apparently went through a red traffic light and struck a Ford Focus that was heading south on Brye Road. The Ford was driven by Scott Machin, 40, of Ludington.

Machin was taken by Life EMS ambulance to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital where he was treated and released.

Segelstrom was uninjured, however, her passenger, Heatheer Rohrbacher, 26, of Fountain, was seriously injured and was transported via Aeromed air ambulance to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital. She is currently listed in fair condition.

Emergency units responding to the scene were Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Life EMS, Pere Marquette Township Fire Dept. and Ludington Fire Dept.

Within about 30 minutes another crash occurred in another part of the county.

The crash on Townline Road involved a GMC pickup truck driven by Randy Goodman Jr., 24, of Ludington. Goodman was driving the truck west on Townline Road when the vehicle apparently lost control and left the south side of the road, Sheriff Cole said. The truck then rolled over and struck a tree, resulting Goodman being ejected. Both Goodman and his passenger, Christopher Fay, 38, of Ludington, were transported by Life EMS ambulance to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital. Goodman was later transported by ambulance to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids where he is currently listed in fair condition. Fay was treated at the Ludington hospital and released.

Emergency units responding to the Townline Road crash included MCSO, Life EMS and Grant Township Fire and Rescue.
