Most power should be restored tonight

August 7, 2013

Earlier this afternoon Great Lakes Energy reported on its Facebook page that the number of members without power in Mason, Manistee and Lake counties was around 3,200. It stated electricity to most would be restored by this evening but some places would be Thursday.

A short but fierce storm hit the area early this morning, knocking down trees, branches and power lines. Most damage in Mason County seemed to have occurred in the Fountain and Free Soil areas but Ludington also saw some damage.
