MCC approves agreement with transportation and food employees

SCOTTVILLE — The Mason County Central board of education approved its contract with the district’s food and transportation employees Monday night.

Under the new agreement, food service members of the American Federation of School, Count and Municipal Employees union will receive a pay raise of 5 cents per hour that bring the top hourly rate to $14 per hour, according to Superintendent Jeff Mount.

Employees will each also receive a $300 stipend for food service certification upon receipt of the certification.

The agreement was already approved by the union and is in effect from Dec. 31, 2012 until June 30, 2014.
