Obit: Sharon Marsha Young, 66, of Ludington

Sharon Marsha Young age 66, of Ludington, joined the lord on November 17, 2012. She was born February 20, 1946.

She graduated from Mason County Central School in 1964 and went on to graduate with a Bachelors of Science Degree from Eastern Michigan University in educating the hearing impaired. In 1987, Sharon earned her Masters of Science from Grand Valley University in educating learning impaired. She taught elementary classes at Muskegon Public Schools until her retirement in 1995.

Sharon returned to Mason County and where she was a substitute teacher for several years. She enjoyed gardening, photography, scrapbooking, genealogy and walking in the park. Sharon was an active in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life for several years and attended Ludington United Methodist Church where she grew in her love and knowledge of Jesus and the Bible.

Sharon is survived by her daughter: Donna DeKuiper of Muskegon; grandson: Jon, sisters: Ardith (Len) Malkowski and Patricia, (Phil) Yarbrough of Scottville; brothers: Edward (Nancy) Young of Lake St. Louis, MO; Harvey (Thelma) Young of Surprise, AZ.; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a special friend, Ingred Pietsch of Muskegon.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Helen Young and a brother: Douglas Young.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday November 24, 2012 at Oak Grove Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Evans officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until the time of service. Final interment will take place at North Victory Township Cemetery in Ludington.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, or the Sharon Young Scholarship fund at Mason County Central for those wishing to teach special education.
