Love in a Cupcake

I came across a recipe for what appeared to be the cupcake of all cupcakes while browsing through the website Pinterest. This cupcake included both chocolate and peanut butter which peaked my interest immediately. What a great combination that is! Whoever invented that combination is my hero. While reading through the ingredient list I have to confess that it included all my favorite yet not so healthy ingredients that make food so sinful and heavenly all in one bite.

I decided to give this recipe a whirl and try it out on a group of friends. The cupcakes were just as delicious as I had hoped for and everyone else seemed to love them too. My cupcakes were not as pretty as the ones in the picture but I’m more a believer in great taste over great presentation any day of the week.

What I didn’t realize at the time was that as I was handing out plates of cupcakes for friends to take home that these little bundles of deliciousness had a bigger purpose.

You see some of the cupcakes were then also passed along by my friends to other people who enjoyed them. When I was baking the cupcakes I never envisioned they would reach outside of my circle of friends. But yet they did and they brightened the day of people I have never met.

So then I started to wonder about how many different things that we do on a normal day touch the lives of other people?

We take our small actions and words for granted but yet they have the power to impact the lives of others. You never really know how much those little random acts of kindness can mean to another person. Smiling at a stranger on the street may be the moment of kindness that they need to give them strength to go on in their day. You take that smile for granted as a polite gesture but to the person on the receiving end of that smile it meant the world.

I personally know of one instance where a smile actually did save a life. Amazing huh? And the lady behind that smile walked away never knowing she actually saved someone from taking their own life on that day.

Cupcakes and smiles can make the world a better and brighter place. Don’t underestimate the power in the small things we do or say to others. In reality they become the big things that have deeper meaning and impact lives.

If you would like to spread a little cupcake joy out into the world I have that amazing recipe on my Pinterest board!
