Part-Time Emergency Medical Responder Instructor

West Shore Community College

West Shore Community College (WSCC) seeks a dynamic part-time instructor to teach Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) approved Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) curriculum. The instructor must be willing to teach multiple weekends over a three-month period (every other Friday evening and Saturday beginning Sept. 13 – Nov. 23) pending State approval and sufficient enrollment.  Course will be held at the Riemer Regional Public Safety Training Center, 5060 N US-31, Free Soil, MI. Prior to the first course, the Instructor shall work collaboratively with the College to develop the course according to MDHHS and WSCC guidelines, meeting all requirements for course approval.

Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications

  • Current EMT provider license
  • Licensed Instructor Coordinator (I/C)
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor card
  • Current Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) credentials
  • Previous experience teaching EMR courses or above
  • A demonstrated commitment to student success

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An earned college degree in a related field
  • Current PHTLS/ITLS Instructor
  • Experience with program design/methodology
  • Program Director experience
