Recreation Center Assistant Manager

Position Summary

The Recreation Center Assistant Manager shall be directly responsible to the Director of Recreational Services for assisting in the Recreation Center including but not limited to, supervision of facility and staff, coordination of swimming lessons, intramural program and other youth and adult recreational programs and activities, and special event scheduling and preparation. 

This position generally provides afternoon and evening coverage for the recreation center (typically Tuesday – Saturday), and maintains a flexible schedule for summer months when work weeks typically shift to Monday – Friday.  The Assistant Manager serves as the Recreation Services night supervisor and will be the go-to person during all working hours.

Position Qualifications

Required

  • Must have or be able to obtain the Pool Operator, Red Cross Professional Rescuer and A.E.D. certifications.
  • Ability to prioritize work responsibilities, adapt to changing duties, and make decisions and take necessary action in absence of the Director.
  • Demonstrated record of providing excellent customer service.
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule (weekdays, weeknights and weekends).
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (or equivalent) and social media programs.
  • Ability to work as a team player and to respect the opinion of others.
  • Ability to interact positively and work effectively with different age groups and personalities.
  • Ability to bend, stoop and lift (occasionally over 40 lbs.)
  • Pre-employment physical, color blindness test and drug screen.

Desired

  • Experience creating and implementing recreational programing such as swim lessons, intramural leagues, club teams, and youth and adult activities. 
  • Experience in community outreach, marketing, and recruitment.
  • Experience with league scheduling and rules.
  • Supervisory experience including hiring, training and development of staff.
